Steve Small

Managing Director, Banyan Tree Capital

Steve Small is the Managing Director of Banyan Tree Capital which he established on behalf of Banyan Tree Group. He has managed the successful launch of the Banyan Tree Indochina Hospitality Fund and the Banyan Tree China Hospitality Fund and oversees all Banyan Tree Capital’s fund management activities. Prior to joining the Banyan Tree Capital, Mr. Small spent over 20 years in private equity investment and management in Asia and was a non-executive director of various regionally listed companies during this time.

Zhang Li 

Joint Managing Director, China Fund 

Mr Zhang, based in Shanghai, is responsible for China-related fund management activities. Prior to joining the Group in 2009, he spent more than 15 years working in the private equity and investment banking industries as well as the public sector. Mr Zhang is a CFA charterholder and holds a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.

David Huang 

Joint Managing Director, China Fund

Mr Huang, based in Shanghai, is responsible for all aspects of construction of the hotels, properties and infrastructure of the Fund’s projects. He has over 21 years experience and has been part of the Banyan Tree Group since 2006. Mr Huang graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Tianjin University and holds a Master of Science in Urban Land and Housing Development from the Asian Institute of Technology.

Paul Trevana 

Finance Director, Banyan Tree Capital

Mr Trevena, based in Singapore, is responsible for all financial and fund administration matters. Prior to joining Banyan Tree Capital in 2009, he spent more than 10 years working in audit and transaction services in London and Hong Kong.  Mr Trevena is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Robert Pfingsten 

Assistant Vice President, Project Development, Indochina Fund 

Mr Pfingsten, based in Vietnam, is responsible for all aspects of construction of the hotels, properties and infrastructure of the projects. He has 30 years experience in design, construction, and development management and joined the Banyan Tree Group in 2011. Mr Pfingsten holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Lucy Han

Investment Director, China Fund

Ms Han, based in Shanghai, is responsible for investment evaluation, due diligence and executing investment transactions for the Banyan Tree China Funds. Prior to joining Banyan Tree in 2008, she spent 8 years in real estate academic research and real estate investment and development consulting. Ms Han graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree, majoring in Real Estate, from the University of Science and Technology of Suzhou, and holds a Master of Science in Estate Management from the National University of Singapore.

Katherine Chia

Cost Manager, Banyan Tree Capital

Ms Chia, based in Vietnam, is responsible for providing support and guidance to the project team for all cost and construction contract matters. Prior to joining Banyan Tree Capital in 2010, Ms Chia was working with an international Japanese contractor in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam as Quantity Surveyor Manager.  She holds a diploma in Building and a specialist diploma in Facilities Management and Enhancement from Singapore Polytechnic.

 

Tok Soon Ju

Investment Director, Indochina Fund

Ms Tok, based in Singapore, is responsible for fund management activities for the Banyan Tree Indochina Fund. Prior to joining Banyan Tree Capital in 2008, she spent more than 6 years working in various investment banks in London, responsible for real estate transactions involving due diligence, financial modelling and structuring of commercial and residential transactions. Ms Tok holds a Master of Engineering from Imperial College, London. 

Thio SuSan

Finance Controller, Banyan Tree Capital

Ms Thio, based in Singapore, is responsible for handling financial reporting, cash flow management, maintenance and implementation of operational processes and managing payroll details for management reporting. She has more than 15 years experience in accounting which includes preparing management and financial reports, forecasting and budgeting, cash flow management and forecasting, development and implementation of financial functions and internal controls. Ms Thio holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Canberra.

Tony Yang

General Manager, China Fund

Mr Tony Yang, based in Shanghai, is responsible for all aspects of project development from inception to completion, and handover to a hotel operator. He has specific responsibility for the development of a destination resort in Huangshan. Prior to joining Banyan Tree Capital in 2010, Mr Yang spent over 10 years working in project management and management of tourism related businesses in China. Mr Yang graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering from TongJi University and holds a Master of Science in Real Estate and Project Management from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as well as a Master of Business Administration from CEIBS.

Viroj Thongpachan

Senior Manager, Project Development, Indochina Fund

Mr Viroj, based in Vietnam, is responsible for all aspects of the projects development. He has over 18 years experience in various projects such as luxury residential villas, hotels, restaurants, condominiums, Universities and infrastructure. Mr Viroj graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Chulalongkorn University and holds a Master of Business Administration from Ramkhamhang University.
