2011

Banyan Tree China Hospitality Fund closes with capital commitments of RMB 1.07 billion (S$ 214m).

 

2010

The Group opened its second resort in Mexico - Banyan Tree Cabo Marques, as well as Banyan Tree Al Wadi, a one-of-its kind luxury desert resort in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

 

2009

The Group makes its first foray into the Americas with the opening of Banyan Tree Mayakoba in Mexico.

Launch of Banyan Tree Global Foundation.

 

2008

Executive Chairman Ho KwonPing received CEO of the Year award at the Singapore Corporate Awards.

 

2007

Banyan Tree Capital was formed to fund future developments.

 

2006

On 14 June, Banyan Tree Holdings Limited made its debut on the Singapore Exchange.

The launch of Banyan Tree Residences, which allows investors to buy their own signature villa, townhouse or apartment in Banyan Tree resorts.

Banyan Tree Private Collection was launched to cater to the growing niche for destination club membership.

 

2005

Marking the group’s long awaited foray into China is Banyan Tree Ringha, in Yunnan.

 

2001

Banyan Tree established the Green Imperative Fund to formalise its corporate social responsibility efforts.

The Banyan Tree Spa Academy was set up to provide training for new therapists as well as research new treatment recipes and techniques.

 

2000

The Angsana brand was launched with the openings of Angsana Bintan and Angsana Great Barrier Reef.

 

1994

Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts was set up to build and manage luxury boutique hotels and resorts, steeped in Asian traditions and sensitive to the environment. Banyan Tree Phuket, the flagship resort of the group, was launched in Laguna Phuket. The resort includes the first Banyan Tree Spa and Banyan Tree Gallery.

 

1993

LRH listed its shares on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

 

1990

In-house architecture arm, Architrave Design and Planning was established in Thailand and Singapore.

 

1987

After extensive rehabilitation of the site and opening of two hotel properties, LRH began marketing Laguna Phuket as a destination within Phuket.

 

1984

Laguna Resorts and Hotels (LRH), a subsidiary of Banyan Tree Holdings Limited, acquired over 550 acres of land on the site of an abandoned tin mine at Bang Tao Bay, Phuket, Thailand.
