Our project also intends to use the captive turtles as appointed ambassadors of the sea to the community and school children of the Maldives, and to all our welcome guests. Their charismatic appeal, and our concern for the well being of all marine eco-systems, will see that this goal is a primary focus of the project.

Maldivian children have visited the turtles; have learnt of their life cycle, and of their biological and conservation needs. They have shown interest and concern, which is taken back to the homes of all Maldivian people. The regular visits ensure continuity and thoroughness, for we believe this aspect of conservation requires a long-term approach.

The people of the Maldives, from day-trippers to ministers, from hotel staff to scientists, all have been involved and touched, and all will carry these memories into every far and distant reach of our country, and even beyond.

Guests are also welcome, and indeed encouraged, to be a part of this unrivalled experience. To see a turtle up close, to look it in the eyes and see evolution, design, intelligence and experience, handed down for more than 200 million years, is to feel a part of the ocean. If only one guest in a hundred was touched by this up-close experience, the world would be a better place. But we doubt any one person will not be touched deep within by the turtles' grace, their charisma and their unmatched adaptations to the ocean world.
