Our first stop will be in Klungkung to see the famous 18th century courthouse “Kertagosa” with its intricately painted ceiling depicting various forms of punishment. We continue on to Goa Lawah, the temple in a cave where hundreds of bats reside. We finish the day on the slopes of Gunung Agung, Bali’s largest volcano, with an extensive tour of Besakih temple, the “mother” temple of Bali and the most sacred to all Balinese.
TANAH LOT TOUR
Begin with a stop at the temple of Taman Ayun, dating back to the 16th century. This is one of the most beautiful temples in Bali and it has its own distinct architectural style. Continue on to Alas Kedaton the sacred monkey’s forest, home to hundreds of friendly monkeys. The highlight of this tour is the temple of Tanah Lot, built on a rocky outcrop on the west coast of Bali.
Uluwatu is a Hindu temple set on the cliff bank in south part of Bali Peninsula. It is one of the Sad Kahyangan Temples of Bali (six big groups of Bali Temples) and located 15 minutes from the resort. Situated on the coral reef sordid to sea about 80 meters above the sea level, it is surrounded by a small dry forest which belongs to the temple and habituated by many monkeys and other animals. The word Uluwatu comes from the word Ulu meaning the head and Watu meaning stone. Therefore Uluwatu Temple mean the temple built at the tip of coral reefs.
The tour begins with stops in the artist village of Tohpati, to observe the intricate process of making Batik, Celuk village with its silverworks. Balinese house compound and temple can be seen in Batuan village and Mas village renowned for its fine woodcarvings. The village itself is also popular for its many art galleries, boutiques, restaurants and beautiful surrounding scenery. Thirty minutes north of Ubud you will arrive at a spectacular rice terrace in Tegalalang village.
