Welcome to Banyan Tree Lijiang

Dear Guests,

Welcome to Banyan Tree Lijiang, a multi award winning Resort and Spa set in the highlands of Yunnan province, an area rich in history and cultural diversity. Resting near the base of the famous Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the luxury resort in Lijiang offers a spectacular views of the mountain and surrounding foothills.

While in the area, you must visit the famous tiger leaping gorge on the upper tributary of the Yangtze River, only one hour from the luxury hotel in Lijang. There are many other photo opportunities in and around the Lijiang valley and a short drive will take you up into the hills to find hidden Na'xi and Yi villages. Here you will also discover wide vistas and amazing floral displays during the springtime.

Banyan Tree Lijiang is only a short walk from Shuhe old town with its ancient cobbled streets, network of small waterways, craft shops, restaurants and bars. The area reflects its strong Na'xi minority heritage and you will see many of the local people still dressed in traditional costume.

Also close by lies the old town of Baisha. Once an important stop along the silk road with its 500 year old embroidery art traditions, Mu family embroidery school and the famous Baisha Murals, a collection of frescoes and buildings dating back to the Ming Dynasty. Here you can also witness traditional arts such as copper beating and pot making. The streets are lined with many craft stalls selling original artefacts which are harder to find in the larger regional centres.

For nightlife, venture into Dayan old town set in the heart of Lijiang city only 20 minutes away and visit the famous Bar Street. It is a hive of activity with its bars restaurants and boutique shops. But be ready for the crowds...

For a more relaxing experience do not miss the award-winning Banyan Tree Spa with its extensive spa menu and signature treatments.

While in Yunnan Province, be sure to visit our sister property in Ringha near Shangrila, to witness a Tibetan experience by Banyan Tree. It is only a three hour drive away from Lijiang up onto the Tibetan high plateau in the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.

So come to Lijiang, where my team and I look forward to welcoming you to Banyan Tree.
