Stay For Good

In our view the mission of business and the purpose of growth are to build a better society for all. We see sustainability not only in terms of the environment, but also in terms of the benefit to the communities we operate in. This has been Banyan Tree's ethos since the company was founded and continues to be the guiding principle. We created ‘Stay for Good' which encompasses our sustainability efforts and encourages our guests to get involved through a number of new initiatives. We believe we can do well and do good at the same time.

Pack for a Purpose

Being a proud member of Pack for a Purpose, Banyan Tree Lijiang alleviates poverty by actively carrying out a variety of programs, an initiative that allows travelers like you to make a lasting impact in the community at your travel destination.

Every year on Children's Day (1 June), staffs of Banyan Tree visit Lijiang’s orphanage and Yulong WenHai Primary School to send the children donated money, clothing, books, sporting goods and school supplies. With the information provided by the Women's Federation of Local District, Banyan Tree Lijiang supports 2 local students who has low family income from middle to high school by providing them 5,000 yuan per year. Yunnan Ethnic Minority Student scholarships worth 8,000 yuan of tuition and living expenses are also offered to Lijiang School of Tourism and Culture in Yunnan University. Internships and job opportunities are also provided to these students after university graduation. Welcomed by the school and community, these projects are strongly supported by the Banyan Tree group.

You can also help if you save just a few kilos of space in your suitcase and take supplies for the projects we support in need. You will make a priceless impact in the lives of our local children and families.
