Jerry John

General Manager, Banyan Tree Macau


Mr. Jerry John is the General Manager of Banyan Tree Macau, having joined the hotel in March 2014. In his role, Mr. John is responsible for the overall running, administration and service standards at Banyan Tree Group's first property in Macau.

He joined Banyan Tree group in 2008 and was previously General Manager at Angsana Laguna Phuket in Thailand, where he headed the team that was responsible for the successful renovation and re-branding of the island's popular resort in 2011, which is now the flagship of the group's Angsana brand. Shortly after it's re-opening, the resort was recognized in the Hot 25 Conference Hotels by Smart Travel Asia and was also recently voted in the Top 25 Family Hotels in Asia in the 2014 Tripadvisor Travellers Choice awards.

A veteran hotelier, Mr. John has amassed a wealth of experience in hotel operations with over 20 years of experience in senior management roles in both corporate and leisure hotels, including pre-opening roles in China. He has also earned operational and management experience in a variety of food and beverage operations within the restaurant and entertainment industries.

After receiving his education in Hospitality Management at the William Angliss College in Melbourne, Australia, he took on his first hotel position with Sol Melia in Malaysia before embarking on a professional career which included a variety of executive positions with international brands such as Le Meridien, Nikko Hotels and Pacific Islands Club in Australia, Taiwan, China, Thailand and the Western Pacific. He joined the Banyan Tree group in 2008, as Hotel Manager, at the multi-award winning Banyan Tree Phuket, and during his time the resort was honored in DestinAsian Readers' Choice Awards 2011 as Best Hotel in Phuket.
