BANYAN TREE EMERGES VICTORIOUS AT WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS 2012
Singapore, 19 Oct 2012– Banyan Tree has scooped seven awards at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2012 including the prestigious Asia’s Leading Resort Brand. The awards were presented at a gala evening on October 18 held at the InterContinental Hotel in Singapore in partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board and TravelRave 2012, Asia’s mega travel trade festival.
The WTA awards programme, hailed as the ‘Oscars of the travel industry’ by global media, highlights and rewards those travel brands that have made the greatest contribution to the industry over the past year.
City hotel Banyan Tree Bangkok was bestowed Asia's Leading City Spa Hotel for the second consecutive year, while Banyan Tree Hangzhou won three awards for China’s Leading Resort, China's Leading Luxury Resort and China's Leading Villas Resort & Spa. Sister resort Banyan Tree Ringha which is located in Shangri-la also received a nod for China's Leading Boutique Hotel, while Banyan Tree Macau secured the award for Macau's Leading Resort.
In addition, Banyan Tree Cabo Marques received the award as Mexico & Central America’s Leading Spa Resort for the Caribbean and Americas ceremony held in September.
Mr Graham E. Cooke, President & Founder, WTA, underlined the depth and quality of the travel and tourism sector across Asia. He said: “Our winners are drawn from the breadth of Asia, reflecting the strength and depth of the travel and tourism sector in the region.”
