| Mr. Abdul Azeez Abdul Hakeem spearheads the environmental initiatives on Banyan Tree Maldives Vabbinfaru and Angsana Maldives Ihuru. Mr. Azeez holds a Bachelor of Science and possesses more than 12 years of experience in coral reef management. In 2000, he won the Maldives' Presidential Award for his efforts in environmental conservation. As the Resident Marine Environment Consultant, Mr. Azeez is well known for developing the Barnacle Project on Angsana Maldives Ihuru and the Lotus Project on Banyan Tree Maldives Vabbinfaru together with German architect, Professor Wolf Hilbertz, and Dr. Tom Goreau, President of Global Coral Reef Alliance. He co-authored a book with Professor Hilbertz and Dr. Goreau on the coral reef regeneration program and also presented a research paper at the 9th International Coral Reef Symposium 2000 in Bali, Indonesia. Mr. Azeez is the Honorary Member of OceanNEnvironment, a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection of the natural environment. |
