Banyan Tree Spa Samui has secured the “Award of Outstanding Performance” for the Southern Region at the Thailand Tourism Awards 2013, which was announced at the award ceremony in Bangkok on 27 September 2013. Organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the event aims to promote the professionalism, standard of services, creativity and innovation in the Thai Spa industry.
Laguna Phuket is launching a new community project, “Fully Booked” in early 2014, which will see the opening of a new mobile learning centre for schoolchildren.
Banyan Tree Spa, the award-winning Asian spa operator marks its inaugural presence in South-Western China with the launch of Banyan Tree Spa Chongqing Beibei, nestled within the new Banyan Tree Chongqing Beibei,  the first international hot spring resort in Chongqing, China that embraces the natural healing waters of the North Hot Springs.
In 2Q13, the Group registered revenue of S$81.7 million, an increase of S$2.4 million or 3% compared to the same period last year.  This was mainly attributable to Hotel Investments and Fee-based segments, but partially offset by lower revenue from Property Sales segment. EBITDA of S$13.1 million in 2Q13 increased by S$0.3 million or 2% compared to 2Q12, mainly due to higher revenue and higher other income.  Higher other income relates to compensation received for the early termination of a spa management contract in Kuala Lumpur.
In celebration of Banyan Tree Group’s first luxury hot spring resort in Chongqing, southwest China, Banyan Tree Chongqing Beibei has launched an opening package with value added inclusions. The Escape to Chongqing Beibei promotion starts from 1 August 2013, when the resort will receive its first guests.
