Banyan Tree Holdings Limited (“Banyan Tree”), a leading manager and developer of premium resorts, hotels, spas and galleries, has announced the termination of a hotel management agreement in Sri Lanka, in order to focus on the development of its own projects on a larger scale. The 77-room Deer Park Hotel in Giritalle, the cultural heart of Sri Lanka, has been managed under the Angsana brand.
Banyan Tree Ungasan, Bali combines a tour of the local wet market with cooking classes so as to give guests a complete Balinese culinary experience against a scenic backdrop. Bali, the the island of Gods, is well known for its impeccable scenery of mountains and beaches, its mystical dance and cultures as well as the richness of the spices and other ingredients used in Indonesian cuisine. The herbal marinates of bebek betutu, the exotic satai lilit and the freshest of grilled seafood come to mind.
This year, Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts celebrates the 100,000th tree that the group has planted as part of its Greening Communities project, launched in 2007 to raise awareness of climate change. Under this project, Banyan Tree and Angsana resorts are given a target to plant 2,000 trees per year.
Thjs month, Banyan Tree Al Wadi tops the “10 Unique Luxury Hotels You’ll Never Forget” on TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel website. This follows the Certificate of Exellence awarded by TripAdvisor to Banyan Tree Al Wadi two months ago, an honour based on the website’s Business Popularity Index which records over 45 million reviews and opinions from 89,000 cities worldwide.
Banyan Tree’s award tally crossed the 700th mark in the second quarter, sweeping honours around the world including China where the group is expanding aggressively. Since the Group received its first award 17 years ago, Banyan Tree has now reached 718 awards and accolades, with the 700th award going to Banyan Tree Al Wadi as Middle East’s Leading Villa Resort in the 2011 World Travel Awards. Recognition from TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel website, was also a significant contributor to the distinction list this quarter.
