Singapore- Mainboard-listed Banyan Tree Holdings Limited (“Banyan Tree” or the “Group”), a leading manager and developer of premium resorts, hotels, spas and galleries, announced today its 4th quarter result which showed a 87% increase in operating profit to S$20.4 million, boosted by good revenue growth from hotels and resorts in Thailand coupled with group-wide cost saving measures. For the full year, the Group remained profitable with PATMI at S$3.0 million but was 57% below last year, due to a strong first half in 2008 before the onset of global economic downturn and political events in Thailand.
Singapore- After celebrating its fifth anniversary milestone in January 2009, Banyan Tree’s flagship Maldives Marine Lab looks forward to its sixth year of operations in 2010, with continuing research on Maldives’ marine life and specific attention on turtles, sharks and corals. Located at Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru in the North Malé atoll, and shared by sister island resort Angsana Ihuru, this is the Group’s first and flagship Marine Lab in Maldives, and also the longest running resort-based marine research facility in the Maldives.

Singapore– Ms. Claire Chiang, Co-founder and Senior Vice President of Banyan Tree Holdings Ltd (“Banyan Tree”) and a Global Governing Board member of the Caux Round Table (CRT), has been elected as the CRT Vice-Chair for Asia, in recognition of her revolutionary efforts in championing sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR). The first female Vice Chair on the Global Governing Board, Ms. Chiang will be responsible for driving awareness, consideration and implementation of long term sustainability solutions across Asia in this new two-year appointment.
