The Rongpa Valley Tour takes you some 50km northwest of Ringha along the road leading to Tibet. It passes through the Napa Flood Plains, which are home to the rare black-neck crane during the winter. After a rest stop at Nishi black pottery village, the drive continues to a lovely village that showcases the flat-roof architecture usually found in Northern Tibet. Tibet’s famous wooden teacups, barley bowls and carved tables are crafted here.

The scenery en-route is stunning, especially at the confluence of the Yangtze and Gonjo rivers. The drive takes you further north to the town of Punzera passing through the dry terrain along the Yangtze River. Your exploration of the old tea trading county of Yunnan ends with a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.
