Macau Arts Festival

The Macau Arts Festival dramatically lights up the city every early summer, bringing together theatre, dance, music, circus, multimedia and visual arts in an artistic panorama of events. A mix of local, regional and international performers from various regions and countries around the world present a diversity of programmes, including Cantonese Opera, Western classical and modern music, Chinese music and drama, Macanese drama. For an entire month, enjoy a host of exciting artistic experiences catering to a span of multicultural audiences. Several performances are traditionally performed in the enchanting ambience of Macau's UNESCO World Heritage Sites.


Macau International Dragon Boat Race

The Dragon Boat Festival was originally dedicated to commemorating the ancient Chinese poet Qu Yuan, a patriot who protested corruption by drowning himself. Today, the celebrations revolve round the hugely popular Macau International Dragon Boat Races contested in late May or June on Nam Van Lake on the historic Praia Grande shorefront. Many local and foreign teams participate in various men's and women's divisions, making the medal haul wide and diverse in what has become one of the international sporting community's favourite outdoor parties in Macau.


Macau International Fireworks Display Contest

The annual Macau International Fireworks Display Contest - universally acclaimed as one of the best of its kind - takes place on the Macau Tower Shorefront from mid-September to October 1 every year. Over the years, more than 100 international teams from China, the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan - China, Japan, Korea, Australia, the UK, Switzerland, France, Germany, Portugal and Spain have participated in this worldclass pyrotechnic shoot-out. Many visitors choose this time of year to come to Macau to enjoy an exotic holiday illuminated by spectacular displays in the night sky that can be enjoyed from many vantage points on the Macau Peninsula and Taipa Island.


Macau Food Festival

Every year around November, the Macau Food Festival - sited in the rotunda across from the Macau Tower - attracts local residents and visitors beguiled by delicious Asian, European, Mainland Chinese and local delicacies. Boasting the robust excitement of live entertainment, games and beer competitions, this foodfest has become a firm favourite for its uninhibited, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere of street stalls, booths and tents.


Macau Grand Prix

Recognised as the city's most prestigious international event, the legendary Macau Grand Prix - now edging into its sixth decade - pits the best motorcycle, WTCC and Formula 3 racers in the world against each other and the clock in dedicated competitions along the narrow, twisting Guia street circuit of Macau city. The high-pitched whine of racing engines, the roar of the crowd, and the adrenaline-charged atmosphere make for a colourful four days of non-stop, head-turning excitement.
