Warming Hearts in Winter

The Winter Solstice is a traditional Chinese festival that celebrates the arrival of Winter. On this special day last December, associates from Banyan Tree Hangzhou and Angsana Hangzhou, led by General Manager Mr Henry So, visited a nursing home. Joined by students from a nearby college, they made dumplings and distributed Christmas cookies to the elderly.

A Plastic Free Banyan Tree - One Year Progress

On Earth Day 2018, Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts embarked on a journey to reduce single-use plastics to be plastic-free. We successfully eliminated 4.2 million single-use items over the past year, from plastic bags, plastic straws, plastic bottles, cokctail stirrers to plastic-wrapping minibar items (equating to a 26% reduction in use). Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts continues to increase awareness on the 5 Rs of responsible consumption – reduce, refuse, reuse, recycle and remove - amongst its associates, guests and communities in the areas we operate.

Keeping Our Beaches Clean

Associates from Banyan Tree Sanya took part in a beach clean-up, together with Mr Glen Cook, AVP of China Hotel Operations. Through this activity, they learnt about the importance of protecting our environment and how they can play a part by using fewer single-use plastic items. As a result of the team’s efforts, more than 55kg of rubbish was collected during the clean-up!

A Fun and Meaningful Children’s Day

Laguna Phuket began the year in good cheer with the annual Laguna Phuket Children’s Day held on 12 January. First organised in 1993, the event aims to inspire children to become active citizens of the next generation and recognise their role in society. More than 3,000 children took part this year, enjoying a string of activities planned out for them. Hats off to all associates and volunteers who spent time bonding with and entertaining the children!
