Mamula Island by Banyan Tree

For the past two seasons, Mamula Island has partnered with the Operosa Montenegro Opera Festival to support young talent and Montenegro's arts scene, hosting recitals, chamber concerts, and dance evenings open to guests and the public alike.
This August, that partnership continues with a chamber performance of “Balkanska Carica” (The Balkan Empress),
part of the XIII Operosa Montenegro Opera Festival.
Written by King Nikola I Petrović Njegoš and composed by Dionisio De Sarno San Giorgio, opera “Balkanska carica” tells a romantic, patriotic story rooted in Montenegrin history. Dedicated to the strength and spirit of the country's women.
Performed here in a new string orchestration by Stevan Karanac, the evening marks twenty years of Montenegro's independence.
Sopranos Milica Lalošević and Nevena Goranova Rajković lead the cast, accompanied by the Montenegro Festival Orchestra, set against the island's fortress walls as the sun goes down over Boka Bay.

All proceeds go to the Herceg Novi Music School. In case of unfavourable weather, the event will follow an alternative plan, with any changes communicated to guests in good time.
