Chinese New Year
This celebration lasts for 15 days. The Chinese typically prepare for this major festival by cleaning the entire house and having a reunion dinner on the eve of the new year. The first day is spent paying respects to family elders .
Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival, also called the Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar. For thousands of years, the festival has been marked by dragon boat races and eating Zongzi - glutinous rice dumplings wrapped to form a pyramid using bamboo or reed leaves.
Mid-Autumn Festival or Moon Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month when the moon is believed to be at its brightest. During this festival, Chinese families gather to eat moon cakes, which are traditionally baked with lotus paste and egg yolk filling but now come in a wide variety of flavours, shapes and sizes.
