At Banyan Tree, we believe in creating long-term value and making a meaningful impact on destinations and communities, driving sustainable development through our core value of “Embracing the Environment, Empowering People”.
We strive to create a positive impact wherever we are. As a Group founded with the core value of driving sustainable development by “Embracing the Environment, Empowering People”, Banyan Tree is guided by a holistic and participatory approach to minimising impacts, as well as safeguarding and enhancing our human and physical environment. We work with the world's leading scientific benchmarking and certification group EarthCheck to measure our energy, emissions, water, waste and paper use; chemical and pesticide use.
For our guests, staying at Banyan Tree hotels and resorts means enjoying energy-efficient buildings that draw on vernacular architectural styles and use locally-sourced materials – a concept underpinned by well-planned waste management systems and a values-based supply chain. They also benefit from our Stay for Good programme that seeks to inspire and motivate guests by connecting them to local communities and environments through exceptional experiences.
From local flavours to indigenous wellbeing traditions and artisan crafts, we are committed to protecting and celebrating the unique heritage of our destinations. As part of our community involvement, we provide meaningful employment, training and educational opportunities in our communities and within our ranks.
In combination with our Green Imperative Fund, a donation-matching scheme for guest contributions, these efforts support a responsible travel experience that allows us to contribute to the sustained livelihood and wellbeing of the wider community.
We launched the annual Greater Good Grants (GGG) fund in countries where we operate as a way to help preserve the world's most beautiful destinations, promote diverse cultures and nurture our host communities. By aligning the GGG grants with our six focal areas that range from biodiversity and conservation to climate change and resilience, we further demonstrate our commitment to meeting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals for people and the planet.
